D Bm A G Was there a voice unkind in the back of your mind saying, Em Am C G maybe... you didn't know him at all, you didn't know him... A/C/G/D (intro sequence - repeat x3) D Well, the bells out in the church tower chime Burning clues into this heart of mine C D C Thinking so hard on her soft eyes and the memories D C/D -> F (3) Offer signs that it's over Dm/Gm7 twice, then A7-G-C (1) start off when you play the chord by adding a 4th, which is a G, at the top of the chord, and then going back to the F# at the top. you should be able to pick up how to play it with the added 4th by listening to the cd. (2) i play keyboards, not guitar, so i don't know how well this will translate. It's kind of a weird section - for the first chord, I play a C and a G (with the C at the top - just a two note chord) with the right hand, and a D in the bass with the left. It's about as close as i can get to the right chord. I'm not sure how you'd translate it to guitar. With the F chord, i just play a standard F and that seems to sound ok. (3) this next section is difficult to translate to guitar - the section where the strings play. It's basically just a D underneath the strings - while i'm playing it on keyboard i play the main melody that the strings play, so i'm not sure what you could do with it with guitar. (4) The timing for this section (just after the strings, where jeff starts singing 'ooooooh' etc, is fairly straightforward, you should pick it up just listening to the cd, but just to make the notation clear, the first chord (Bm) is for 6 beats, the next (A) is for 2, then the next (G) is for 6, and so on, until you get to the Em, which is for 3, then the next three chords are for one beat each, the next two (G and A) i think, from the top of my head are for 6 each. The section after the Em is hard to pick up in the studio recording - i actually discovered that he went down to the Em and then came back up from listening to some live recordings. (5) This whole section has a *really* confusing rhythm. I just fudge my way through it and hope that the people i play with drown me out ;) Maybe you'll have more luck with it than i do.
