Ash's Largely Ill-Informed and Poorly Researched Guide to Melbourne Music Stores

(looks best at 1024x768, but I guess if this is the best you can do...)

Unashamedly stolen straight from the pages of Beat magazine, here's a few Au-Go-Go specials & rarities from the AGG folks themselves:
Conway Savage - 'Self Titled' 1992 EP; Alanis Morrissette - 'The Singles Box' 5cd set; You Am I - 'Soldiers' 1996 4 track 7" (hold me back!!); Regurgitator - 'I sucked a lot...' Ltd Ed 7" w/poster; Black Flag - 'Damaged' acetate on 10" plate; Rolling Stones - 'Between the Buttons' Aus mono LP; Teenage Fanclub - 'The King' obscure cd; The Velvet Underground - 'Banana' album - ltd ed white vinyl repressing; Spy vs Spy - 'The Early Cases' rarities; The Church - 'Life Before Starfish' promo cd; Patti Smith - 'Set Free' 12"; DJ Steinski & Mass Media - 'We'll be...' 12" ep; 2PAC - 'RU Still Down?' (*cough*) 3lp vinyl set.
Trainspotters may notice that I didn't even change the order...
Another remembered - Greville have Augie March's first EP 'Thanks for the Memes' floating around the parts. Probably now deleted, I'm sure this would be fairly hard to get a hold of, and probably a good one to snap up fairly soon.

Ok, there have been a few things floating around lately, but as per mention on the front page, here's what I can remember.
I've spent a bit of time visiting Greville lately, and found a little gem; it's Pulp's 'This Is Hardcore' with the great 'Live At Glastonbury' bonus disc. Greville's blockmounts and framed prints are looking more and more attractive every time I go in there, however the official line is 'make us an offer', so don't expect any prices any time soon, as has been in the past. Greville also have a copy of the Tim Buckley cd & comprehensive booklet 'Thin Wires Through The Voice'; as have Collector's Corner, however a touch more expensive.
Collector's still have their 'display' copies of Hormoaning; both the Japanese and Australian pressings of this fairly famous collector's EP. Prices of these have remained steady at around the $100 mark for quite a while now, the Australian release usually fetching around $30 or so more than its less notable counterpart. A while back they had a Mexican (of all things) picture vinyl release of Bleach, for around about $60, although chances of finding that there still are probably nil.
A stalwart of the upstairs rarities cabinet at Au-Go-Go seems to be the Russian pressing of Pink Floyd's eponymous 'Dark Side Of The Moon' at $100, it's been there as long as I can remember (several years?). Au-Go-Go seem to be cycling through their Westwood One radio promo discs at a rapid rate; make sure you go down there and check out what they have (be warned - they're not cheap!!). Next time I'm there I'll find out what they have.
Don't forget - any people reading this working in a store in Melbourne - got any specials/rarities/goodies that you want.. well.. a couple of people to know about? Let me know.
Hopefully have more for y'all next weekend.
